The Carmarthenshire County Museum (Carmarthen Museum) has recently undergone a big refurb! It is well worth a visit and currently there are two special exhibitions running for the summer. One on the history of Carmarthenshire textiles with some wonderful samples and one Cragen Beca by a talented artist which also explains a little about the Rebecca Riots.
The gardens have been developed too with a lovely walk taking in some pretty views. The Bishops Park and Gardens that wrap around the museum have been transformed through a sensitive restoration, managed by the Tywi Gateway Trust.
Carmarthenshire Museum tells the county story at the old palace of the Bishops of St Davids. The museum collections span 50,000 years of human history. There are some really interesting exhibits. I would say its suitable for children too. The cafe has been refurbished and sells yummy cakes and snacks.
