Laugharne is situated just a few miles away from Old Oak Barn and is of course famous for its tranquil setting, historic Castle and because it is where Dylan Thomas penned much of "Under Milk Wood" He is surely Wales's greatest poet! The famous Boat House is a big tourist attraction and in 2014 an exact replica of The Writing Shed began touring Carmarthen and the rest of Wales.
We think you will enjoy visiting Laugharne which is famous across the world and in 2014 lots of special events took place to celebrate the centenary of his birth in Swansea at 5 Cwmdonkin Drive. Why not visit Swansea for the day too - its less than an hour from here!
Taking a stroll around the little village provides hours of interest for visitors who can pop into The Browns Hotel for a pint, go into the Castle grounds or walk "The Birthday Walk". Recently in 2020 Browns has been taken over by Dexters from Carmarthen - serving delicious locally sourced food. There are many places to eat and buy takeways and our favourites include The Ferryman, Poons and of course the Fish and Chip shop in the square.
