Skomer - to see the Puffins

Skomer Puffins

We think a day to see the Skomer Puffins will give anyone some wonderful memories!  Visiting the tiny Skomer island off the Pembrokeshire coast is a real treat especially if done between April and July when the puffins are resident. Have a read of the wardens blog to see all the latest news and sightings. The very rich waters which surround the island provide an amazing home and feeding ground to all sorts of seabirds and cetaceans, flora and sea slugs even! We also recommend a visit in May or June when the bluebells and red campion are out.

You would have to allow plenty of time because sometimes the queues for the ferry are very long and not everyone will get aboard the boat because numbers are strictly limited to the island to protect it and the birds. So, you have to get up early if staying at Old Oak Barn because the little ferry leaves Martins Haven just three times in the morning at approx 9.30 - 11.30. Please check the Dale Princess ferry times for more information. We can help you plan this memorable day! Checking out Trip Adviser  reviews will help you decide if a trip to the island is for you! In 2014 we had one little boy staying who said this was his best day of the holiday.
